As a sole trader I’m aware that car maintainance is included in the cents per km method. My understanding is car ‘maintenance’ is mechanical car maintenance, car washes & car cleaning is ‘cleaning’ not mechanical ‘maintenance’. I’m seeking clarification of the definition of car ‘maintenance’ for tax purposes.
There is no tax definition of maintenance of a car. It would be the normal accepted definition of the term, which is maintaining a car so it is kept in good working condition. Maintaining the bodywork would include washing. Maintaining the interior would include cleaning.
The cents/km method means all expenses are included apart from tolls and parking.
