I recently sent my boss a list of unpaid invoices. There was quite a few. and some are from almost a year ago. They were found recently as I was going through my invoices and doing a kind of audit and check up on them overall. Then my boss sent me an email response stating that the invoices will have to be paid in increments and also stating that "this couldn't have come at a worse time". They also made a suggestion and recommended I find and set up software/ use a program that follows up on overdue invoices for me so that my invoices are tracked and a situation such as the can be avoided. Perhaps I am being oversensitive but I feel like I am in the wrong here. Am I in the wrong? why, in this scenario am I being told off when I have merely asked for them to check their records to see if these invoices need to be paid. and then if so, to pay them. Yes, I agree that I perhaps should have followed these up when they weren't paid at the time instead of leaving this for so long, and therefore creating a shock for them. But really why should I be scolded like this and spoken to like a kid in primary school that is getting punished for doing something wrong! shouldn't they be tracking payment of invoices from their end as well anyway? and shouldn't they be sending notification of when they have paid an invoice and providing a receipt number? instead of me having to just keep an eye on my bank account seeing what payments have come through, sometimes some of which have not included my invoice number at all so that it is more of a guessing game for me to check that I have been paid. I am just curious about other people's thoughts and opinion on this particular situation. As it makes me feel like quitting and not working for them anymore. If this is the reaction I receive and if I am made to feel scolded and like I have done something wrong here then I honestly would prefer they don't pay me anything at all. and as I said I honestly feel like saying to them "I quit".
