Hi. I have left Australia more than 10 years ago and have started to try to get hold of my DASP which is ATO-held since 2022. I've applied online and received my first cheque in December 2022 but realizing that the name on the cheque has been truncated and thus not matching with that on my passport or national ID. I tried cashing the cheque at a local bank in Malaysia but it was rejected due to the name not matching. I then proceeded to request for a new cheque with my full name and received it March 2023. The name although was printed in full but the order was reversed (ie. First Name, Last Name). I tried cashing it at the local bank and they initially received it but it eventually was returned to me as the bank's HQ is no longer taking in AUD cheques. I then tried my luck with another branch of a different bank and was asked to open an AUD account which I did and they accepted my cheque to be sent to HQ for processing. However it has been more than a year and the cheque have not cleared. It would have gone stale by now. It has been very challenging and long ardous process to get my refund. What are my other options? I no longer have a bank account in Australia in my name so that's out of the question. Can ATO process payment via international bank transfer? Or for the funds to be sent to a friend or family residing in Australia?

Hi @dtyz87,
The DASP of ATO held super can only be paid out by:
- Electronic transfer to an Australian bank account held in your name.
- Australian dollar cheque.
The name on the cheque will be what is recorded in our system.
