Hi, I recently arrived in Australia and have applied for a TFN, which is currently being processed. I want to know if I can apply for an ABN while waiting for my TFN, or do I need to wait until my TFN is issued? Any advice or guidance would be appreciated!

Hey @tauqeer,

You won't be able to apply for a sole trader ABN until your TFN application has been processed and your TFN issued.

The time it takes to get a TFN is around 28 days.

Once that TFN has been issued, you can go ahead and apply for your ABN.

Check out the info we have on applying for an ABN.
