can I claim a national police check on tax?

I have been offered a promotion (new position) within the same government department I already am employed by. I will be essentially performing the same job I do now but at a senior level. The job offer is dependent upon a national police check which they say I will not be reimbursed for. As I am working with the same entity, can I claim the cost of the police check on tax?
