The ATO phone help service for NFP self-review forms sensibly asks for several identity factors. I need to identify myself and also the NFP I'm representing. I want to use the phone lodgement or help service because the online service does not show me the NFP self-review form at all, and the online help says to phone ATO.

To get through to ATO phone help, I need an extra identity credential, called a document reference number. This is a long number that started appearing on ATO and Centrelink documents over 20 years ago.

We created our ABN during COVID, as did many other NFPs, just so we could get a Square for card payments.

Somehow, we did not get a document from ATO or ABR with a document reference number on it. Or we lost it thoroughly and completely. Either way, we cannot now access the ATO phone services.

How can I get a document reference number that ATO will accept on its phone services?

and of course the KEYWORDS thing won't accept:

document number

document reference

document reference number

documentnumber

documentreference

documentreferencenumber

Hi @richardh9935,

Just wondering do you have access to Online services for business?

If so, view your communication history and this should list correspondence we sent you with a reference number. It does only show the last five years.

If you used a tax agent when you applied for your ABN they can possibly help.

If not, you may need to lodge using an alternative option.
