I have been trying for months(!!) to verify my identity on myGovID website.

I only have 2 forms of acceptable identification: Australian Passport and Australian Birth certificate.

My South Australian birth cert only has 5 numbers in the ORIGINAL issuance.

My OFFICIAL COPY has 8 different numbers followed by an asterisk.

My OFFICIAL NAME CHANGE certificate (required to change name due to marriage) has 8 different number again.

NONE of these registration numbers will verify my identity even when zeros are added to the first certificate original 5 numbers.

Please help.

I am unable to obtain my Medicare card, register at Centrelink or obtain a TFN.

Hi @pilotusa,

Did you receive an error code?

If so and it was:

  • error code 45048 (422) could not verify details: this means details provided don’t match what's held by birth's deaths and marriages in SA, you'll need to contact them.

Birth certificates issued by certain districts in SA can’t be verified online.

Also, SA birth certificates issued before 1944 can’t be verified online.

If your certificate cannot be verified online, you’ll need to use an alternative identity document to set up your myGovID.
