Hi @JeremyT51,

 

That sounds about right.

  

If you have an appropriate level of private health insurance while you're a permanent resident, the MLS won't apply. And if you were exempt from paying the Medicare levy before becoming a PR (July 2023), you'd be exempt for the MLS for that time too.

 

Once you're a PR though, you'd be liable for the MLS for any period that you don't have an appropriate level of private health insurance if you earn above the income threshold.
