I need to apply for a lodgment deferral for my FY24 Tax Return.
However, as the ATO only grants extensions over the phone, I’ve attempted to call multiple times, but my calls have been cut off due to high call volumes.
What can I do?, and if I am unable to reach the ATO and fail to extend my lodgment date what are the likely consequences?

It's been a crazy tax time for us, especially this week.
We can still give a deferral after the due date. We do prefer that request before, but as you said you've been trying to get to us and haven't been successful yet.
