I have health insurance policies with TWO different health insurers:

1st insurer: Hospital AND Extras policies

2nd insurer: Extras policy only

I'm claiming the rebate for the 1st insurer.

Can I claim the rebate for the second insurer as well or not?

A question first if I may, @Mike2413 - will your insurers accept this arrangement? (I just found mine would not allow me to claim if there was a second policy.)

Having Hospital cover with one insurer and Extras cover with another is fine and quite common.

Having the same cover with two insurers introduces some challenges, e.g. they each may claim a "void" or "escape" clause and ask you to claim on the other. But perhaps your insurers are fine with this.

1st insurer allows Extras cover (but not Hospital cover) concurrently with a 2nd insurer.

2nd insurer does not have any issues with this arrangement as long as you don’t double claim.

I worked for two different PHI companies and we used to say no you couldn't hold policies for the same thing with separate companies. That was changed to yes you can. I recall my boss from Legal and Compliance saying that if you pay 2 separate premiums you are entitled to claim from each one. I've contacted him again to ask for clarification as to the rule today, if there is one. But from a legal standpoint, I don't see why not.
