I recently built a home office to accommodate mine and my husbands working from home. It cost around $35,000 in materials and labour. This is one room that is being exclusively used as a home office.
It has chairs, tables, mini fridge, rug, and other office supplies and books but this is it. I know I can claim the deductions on furniture.
Can I claim the cost of the building materials and labour to have this built on my home? Would I put each individual charge down as a deduction? For example, windows and doors being $7000.
How would deductions work on this home office extension?
