Hello,


I created a mygov account which I used to link my TFN to when I made it, but I was young when I made it, then forgot the password and lost access to the account so I had to create a new one. I forgot the security questions too so it was closed. Now I need to link my TFN to my new mygov account, but I dont have any proof it needs since i'm still young, so I am applying for a linking code. What information is needed to prove my identity to get the linking code, I want to be prepared when I call the help line.


Some proof I do have is my identity such as some proofs of identity (license, medicare) and reference number for when i got my TFN.

Proof of identity is the key here. The reference number from your TFN application is also handy to have. Maybe grab every piece of ID you've got, like Passport or Birth Certificate too, just in case.


Linking codes need an extra step of ID verification, so just grab everything. It's a bit hard for the system to find questions to ask when there's little or no activity on someone's account. But you've got some important things already.


Try reaching out very first thing in the morning when they open (8am your local time), for your best chance to get through. 🍀
