I had an Essential Super account with CBA, and they transferred my funds to the ATO. I’ve been overseas for about a year and recently injured myself from a fall down the stairs. I've been told it will take 5-6 months to fully recover. I'm currently facing financial difficulties due to unemployment and being dependent. Can I withdraw my super? Also, could someone provide me with an ATO email address, as I don’t have access to MyGov?

Hey @2592SAL,
So sorry that's happened to you.
There are limited circumstances when you can withdraw ATO-held super. Check out the link provided and see if you fit any of the categories.
Another option might be to transfer your super into a new superannuation fund and then apply for a financial hardship request. These requests are not done through the ATO at all, only direct from a superfund.
The ATO don't communicate through email freely as it's not a secure form of communication. They don't have an active email address to give you for your request, you'd need to speak with them through the overseas enquiries line.
If you have medical bills to pay and such, you might want to look at Early Access to super on Compassionate grounds, but keep in mind, this is not for general living expenses', only for medical treatment and 4 other categories. 🍀
