Hi ATO, I just have a question about trading crypto. I am 16 years old and cannot sign up for any wallets or apps as you need to be 18. I have recently found that apparently you can trade at any age on decentralised exchanges. I can't find any laws, rules or regulations for this online. I was wondering if you had the answer or could lead me to a page that has answers. Thank you!

Hi @NateMc,

Age requirements for trading crypto are more to do with the specific exchange you're looking at using. From a tax perspective we don't have any restrictions on what exchange you can use. However, it's important to just be aware of your tax obligations when trading crypto, alongside how your income may be taxed due to being under 18. We have an article on cryptocurrency and a page on income for minors that would both be worth reading through.

Hope this helps, let us know if you have any questions!
