I am a casual worker and work as a tour guide. Sometimes I work on weekends and public holidays, but I have never been paid the weekend or public holiday rate. I always get the same hourly rate. The company I work for is small and some months I don't work at all. Is it illegal not to be paid rates for weekends and public holidays, or is this not a problem?

Not a tax issue - best to ask Fair Work Australia.

Your question is for Fair Work Australia, not for the ATO. Take a look on their website and see if you can contact someone there.
Good luck!
