I have an under 18 employee that ticked 'no' to claiming the tax free threshold and was taxed. They are looking to claim the tax back and tried to submit a return but were told to come back to the employer to get the money. Could someone tell me the exact steps that need to be taken in this situation for this employee to be able to submit a tax return. Can they submit electronically or paper only? Do they need to apply for a TFN in order to be able to submit a tax return?

Hi @NLena

Employee should already have a tax file number.

Needs to lodge a tax return with the ATO
