- Purchased off the plan property June 2021
- Property nearing completion May 2025
- Have been renting for past 4 years with no main residence
- circumstances have changed (husband passed away) so no longer wish to live in property however don’t want to be liable for CGT
Since I have had no main residence, upon completion if I move in instantly, is the main residence backdated for CGT purposes? Ideally when the property is complete I would like to move in, put the property on the market and have it settle within 3 months. Would I be exempt from CGT?
