You have a few options to locate any existing superfunds you may have. The easiest way is if you have a myGov account linked with the ATO, you can view any open superfunds there. Otherwise, we do have a dedicated lost super phone line where we can help with providing any fund details we have for you. These options are definitely the fastest, but you can also mail in a form where we can issue the same information to you via post. Our lost super page runs through all of these and should help out.
If you're unable to locate any existing funds by the time your employer requires the info, you could have them pay the super into their default fund. You can then request a transfer of the funds online through myGov to your main fund and have you employer contribute to the main one going forward.
