My question regards the provision of tax invoices.

I reference the ATO website

https://www.ato.gov.au/businesses-and-organisations/gst-excise-and-indirect-taxes/gst/tax-invoices#ato-Whentoprovideataxinvoice

where the following statement is provided;

Q

         When to provide a tax invoice

If a customer asks for a tax invoice, you must provide one within 28 days, unless it is for a sale of $82.50 (including GST) or less.

The information a tax invoice must include depends on:

  • the sale amount
  • the sale type (for example, a sale that includes both taxable and non-taxable items)
  • who issues the tax invoice.

UQ

My question is

Can a supplier require a purchaser/client to log onto their specific web based platform to acquire a formal tax invoice?

I also note that a supplier has indicated that they will levy a charge of $15 to provide an invoice if the client does not wish to use their specific web platform, with the requirement of additional information required by the application.

Hi @TyreSafeAust,

It's not something we have any control over. We provide info on when to provide and what to include for tax purposes.

Hello ATO

then by your response I gather that a supplier can actually charge a customer to issue an invoice that relates to the provision of goods or services by the supplier?
