Hello

Business has got to the position where I need a van for it. I have found a vehicle off Facebook Market that suits the needs of my business.

My problem is that the seller can't provide an invoice/receipt as they are not a sole trader and do not carry a business.

My questions are:

  1. If no invoice is issued, how can I prove this as a business expense?
  2. If the person selling is not operating a business, can they provide me with a receipt, and they won't have to declare that as business income?

I found some information here, but wanting to ensure that I am doing the right thing.

Hi coolridge,

the seller should be able to issue a receipt. It it something simply confirming that money has been received by them for the van on this date. You will also have van transfer documents for registration purposes.
