I only own one superannuation account(X) where I asked my employer to do the super payments in. But, my employer has made payments to some Y named Super funds account with the exact same account number that I provided for my X fund account. They say the transaction has been processed and have provided me reference numbers for the transactions.

Can account numbers from one Superannuation funds be the same for another superfund company? Do you think the transaction can get processed? Do payments get accepted by Superfund organizations even if a person doesnt have any account with them? @SuperAnnuation1 @allsuper

Hi @SandraDsouza,

I guess it's possible to have the same account number for a different superfund.

Yes, employers can set up superfunds for employees who don't already have an account with them. They'll use your employment details and TFN.

You'd be well off chasing up with that fund to make sure they do have an account for you and super contributions to match.

It's your legal right to have super paid into the fund of your choice though. So, if you did fill in a super choice form when you started, they shouldn't have opened an account with a fund not of your choosing.

You can fill out another superannuation standard choice form with your chosen fund details on it and give it to your employer to let them know, that's where you want your super paid into from now on.

If you find out there's no account and no payments made, you can do an unpaid super enquiry, as a last resort. 🍀

It administrative error. Superfund company it self created your account without asking to employer or employee just because they got contribution. its frustrating but via My Gov you can transfer your super to your normal account and just close the new account.
