Hello good people,

Recently I tried to lodge a claim with my insurance and they asked me if I am GST registered. I said yes and they asked my ABN and ITC number. I don't know how to find my ITC number. I don't have an accountant either. I just called ATO and told them to register me for GST. Can anyone help please?

Hi @Alex4531

Can you clarify with your insurer what an ITC number is?

It doesn't sound like a number similar to your ABN.

Could it stand for Input Tax Credit's? For example, if you're entitled to claim a GST credit, what would that amount be?

If you can get more info from your insurer, we can help you work out what they're wanting.

Thank you Ari for your reply. I asked the insurer, the said it's Input Tax Credit. I completely don't know what that is and what amount that can be. If you could explain it to me, I'd be grateful.

Hi @Alex4531

An input tax credit is another phrase for GST credit. Your insurer is asking if you're entitled to claim GST on expenses. They may want to take into account the GST amount.

You can read more about GST credits on our website.
