Hi,

I set up a small consulting business (with registered ABN) simply to earn an income while I was applying for jobs. As I am about to start full-time employment shortly, I now want to invoice for the consulting work i did.

This is where i am uncertain on how to proceed: the company i consulted to will likely expect to pay GST, but as I have not earned >$75k I have not registered for GST. So, my question is: how do I setup my invoice? And how does is my small business handled taxwise?

Why would they expect to pay GST? Is it because your contract is for a GST inclusive fee? Link explains setting up invoices

The contact I'm dealing with there told me that. But it's a fair question.

Let me read the link you kindly provided and i will get back to you (hopefully with more clarity this time)
