If I were to notify the ATO of appointment of a public officer (i.e. when first registering the company) via a letter (including all the details about the PO) instead of using NAT 2943 (or doing it through the ABR portal) could that be signed digitally by the public officer who is being appointed? and then posted to the ATO?

I have previously asked public officers to sign and post it themselves, but would like to be able to simply get their signature either digital or scanned and then post it myself.

Hi @AD_PO

Jumping in on this thread!

It shouldn't matter if the signature is wet or digital as long as you meet the requirements of the NAT form, we'll be able to complete the request.

We have info on updating the public officer on our website, have a read.

Hi @AD_PO,

Here's info on who and how to update the appointment of a public officer. It'll depend on who you are on whether you can do it yourself or not.

Don't forget to include the meeting minutes that officially record the appointment of the new public officer. 👌

Thanks for the reply, and for the extra info.

That wasn't exactly my question. Sorry for the confusion.

The issue is more-so whether when I send a letter to the ATO to make that update, whether the person authorised to appoint that public officer needs to sign it by hand (with a pen) or whether they can do so digitally.
