I will soon be working as a tutor for a business and I had to obtain a working with children check. This is the first time I am obtaining one and I have not done any child related work before. I was wondering if this cost I had to pay will count as a deduction.

The general principle of a tax deduction is that it is an expense incurred in the gaining or producing of assessable income.

So any expenditure (apart from capital items) to get yourself ready for work are not tax deductible.

Can claim the cost when you need to renew the registration, if you need it for your job.
