I'm starting a jewelry business using an existing Pty Ltd company and a new Business Name. My home residence is recorded by ASIC/ATO/ABR etc as my 'principal place of business' and 'registered office/address for service' for both the Company and the Business Name. The Business Name describes what my business specialises in and makes it very evident that I will be dealing with valuable stock. (eg. "Gold Bars & Diamonds" - it's not that - but you get the gist)
My business is not intended to be open to the public and will only trade online or at trade shows. To avoid a perception that I may hold valuables, I don't want my home address easily accessible via online searches. I have obtained a PO box which assists with making the 'registered office/address for service' private, however I can't see how it is possible to completely suppress my home address from public record about my business.
From my research, it seems to be possible to apply to suppress the address information for the Business Name registration and myself as Director/Shareholder, but then the Business Name registration information displays the Company as the owner, and ASIC don't suppress 'principal place of business' details for Companies.
How do small business owners using their home address for e-commerce rather than brick and mortar maintain personal privacy and security ? (For further context, I live in a remote location with no visible neighbours, heightening my security concerns).
