I tried to claim my tax last year and I receive the receipts 🧾 they said it’s takes 2 week to do whatever which I guess everyone recurve that… the amount I supposed to receive on my bank account is $6300 … the next day I accidentally log out my acc on myGov app…which I forgot what email I use on it and the phone number I was using on it is not working anymore, so I was hoping that it’s ok I already claim my tax which after more than 10 weeks I still not receive it last year, I try email the Ato, until not I got no responds from them, last week I go through my email and for some reason I was having a thoughts about recovering my old email…and it’s remind me my Ato acc and I recover all my old gmail acc I start searching which one I was using on my Ato acc and I finally did it, I was so happy I finally reopen my acc back and guess what’s surprised me, that whole 6300 that u supposed to receive on my bank account, they said it’s debt and I need to paid debt, I’m so pissed and disappointed like why is my money now turn into a debt , now they asked me to paid 6300 to them for what, I really don’t get it, can anyone understand the problem? And help me for some answer here please 🙏

I'd say you were likely audited, the audit team probably tried contacting you and didn't receive a response so they removed your deductions. If you can log into your ATO online account there will be a Notice of Assessment which should give a break down of the tax return.

You should log into ATO and check. Usually there would be communications about what happened.

If you don't understand why, it may be best you meet and pay a tax agent to explain what happened and then you can decide your next course of action.
