Hi,

I am the treasurer for a miniature railway club. We are incorporated but do NOT have an ABN. Our annual turn over is from only membership fees and fundraising of around $10000.

We have started doing Bunnings BBQ's and would like to offer EftPOS for card purchases, however every supplier seems to require an ABN.

What would the implication be for us to register for an ABN? And are we even eligible?

Thank you for your advice

Hi Spoorman

I am a treasurer for an incorporated association - we have an ABN but are not registered for GST, our current turnover is similar to yours. We are also considered tax exempt. The only thing I can think of is that you now need to report to the ATO on a yearly basis this is via the lodgement of NFP self-review. This is new and has only just come in.

Check these few sites out for more guidance about your abn entitlement, ABNS for NFPs etc.
