Hi, This is a 3 part question.
- My husband earns less than $40,000 per annum. I have started to add fortnightly payments using the spousal bpay details to his super fund. At tax time all I need to do is complete the "Spouse contributionTax offset" section on MY tax return to be eligible to claim a deduction. Is that correct or do I have to complete any forms with his super fund?
- My husband made a one off payment of $1000 to his super after tax and he has completed a "Notice of intent to claim" with them. From what I can understand this enables the Super fund to issue a letter of some sort giving him a tax benefit? Is this the Govt Co Contribution scheme whereby the govt will add $500 into his super fund? and is there a section on my husbands tax return form to complete to enable this?
- Is the co contribution and the tax benefits letter from the Super fund one and the same.
I am trying to work it out and the website is well written , I am just not too sure
Thank you
