Can a company invest its profit in any of the following areas to maximise its profit?

  1. Precious metals like gold/silver/platinum bullion.
  2. Shares/Stocks.
  3. Private Credit Funds.

If yes, at what time is the taxation on the returns for the investments in gold/silver/platinum bullion realised? When they get sold and the money hits the company account? Or is there a notional value determined by their respective market prices that should be used to determine the return every financial year for taxation, even if they are not sold?

When they get sold

Yes - contract date

and the money hits the company account?

No - that is settlement date = not relevant for capital gain

Or is there a notional value determined by their respective market prices that should be used to determine the return every financial year for taxation, even if they are not sold?

No
