I already have a primary source of income and I'm thinking doing those online surveys or taking up small projects in IT to earn. They pay the money via PayPal. For this type of income, do I need to register for ABN? As it is kind of freelancing?
You can operate without an ABN. ATO requires you to hold an ABN when you need other registrations - e.g. GST, PAYG withholding.
Otherwise registering an ABN depends on whether you are entitled to hold one.
