I run a company business from a house I rent. I do not have clients that come to the premises my operation out of my house is purely administration purposes. I have not clients that come to the house, as it provides disability support services. I do have staff that come to my house now and then for meetings etc. Can I claim a portion of this rent as a tax deduction?

per floor area - floor area of house he is renting x floor area of room

Hi @Joe1412,

No, you generally can't claim your rent when you work from home, as this is a private expense.

You can only claim occupancy expenses if you have an area set aside that has the character of a 'place of business'. The eligibility criteria is detailed in the link.
