Hello! Last tax return I made a one year payment plan to pay the taxes that I owed, however when I got a bonus at work I decided to pay what I had left after 5 months. I paid off the the rest of the sum 2 days before my next instalment was due and because payments take a couple of days to process, I was still charged the instalment. Now I have credit in my balance since I overpaid and I want that to be transferred to me. I don’t want to leave it there for the next tax return, I want it to be transferred to my account. How can I do it? I tried to look on the website but I can’t find any option to transfer that amount into my account and when I called ATO 2 weeks ago they told me it’s process automatically when there’s a credit in your balance but it’s been a months a mind a half and nothing’s happened.

Anyones has gone through the same and can help me?

Thank you!

Hi @Sharaninay

It's great that you were able to pay off your payment plan earlier than expected!

That's right, our system will typically do a sweep and refund you any credits to your nominated bank account. So just make sure you've updated your bank account details for that refund to occur. The amount wouldn't have refunded if you didn't have your bank account details listed in your Online Services.

Alternatively, our Lodge and Pay team can process the refund manually if you give them a call, as long as your bank account details are current.
