Hi there,

I recently purchased a block of land and plan to build a new house. As a first home buyer, I understand I may be eligible for the $30,000 First Home Owner Grant in Queensland if the total cost stays under $750,000.

However, the construction won’t be completed until around May 2026.

In the meantime, I’m considering buying an established home to live in temporarily. Once the new house is finished, I’ll move in and make it my main residence for at least 6 months, as required.

My question is:

If I live in another property before the new house is completed, will this affect my eligibility for the $30,000 grant?

Thanks so much for your help.

Kind regards,

Allen
