I work from home full time as my employer does not have an office that I can work from. I have a dedicated room set up with a workstation, double monitors, laptop, printer etc. The room cannot be readily be used for anything else other than my work. I dont have clients coming to my office. Im confused about what I can claim for Running Expenses and/or Occupancy for my work from home arrangement.

Hi @Bellarottie,
We included some info about occupancy expenses in our 2025 tax time article, and you can read more on our website.
To claim occupancy expenses when you work from home, you must show that:
- the nature of your income earning activities requires you to have a place of business
- it was necessary for you to work from home because your employer doesn't provide you with an alternative place of business
- the area of your home that you use for work is exclusively or almost exclusively used for work purposes and isn't readily capable of being used for any other purpose.
You can also lodge a tax advice request on this topic; we'll be able to give you some written advice tailored to your situation.
Thanks Rachel
I lodged a tax advice request 2 weeks ago and haven't had a response as yet hence why I asked here.
