I became a non-tax resident circa 25 years ago when i moved overseas. I do still have my TFN as I was lodging returns for 10 years before.

I would like to lodge a tax return for 2024-25 given I've earned some income in Australia from investments.

1) Is my TFN still valid? It may be linked to outdated details (eg address etc). How can I change these details?

2) How do i lodge my tax return from overseas?

Thanks

Hi @mokke77,

Your TFN would likely still be valid as they don't normally get cancelled like ABNs. If you are still linked, you can update your details within myGov. If you can't access your old account, you'll need to create a new myGov and link it. You'll likely need to use the old details to match first.

As for lodging the tax return, there's a couple of options. You can do it online via the above method. You can have a tax agent lodge it on your behalf. You can even go old school and submit a paper tax return.
