Im paid a meal allowance for any shift where i am off site over certain periods of time. It is my understanding that if these shifts are regular hours, i am unable to claim a deduction for the meal allowance. If the shift is overtime, am i than able to claim a deduction?

If you don't work overtime then you won't receive an overtime meal allowance. Receiving an overtime meal allowance doesn't necessarily mean you can then claim a deduction. First prerequisite is that you have to buy and eat a meal while working overtime
