KBSHRIMPTON(I'm new)I'm new
23 July 2025

I recently walked out of a 16year DV relationship injured & with absolutely nothing.

As I am now homeless with no belongings, struggling financially, & unable to return to work due to a injury which requires dental treatment can I claim for both financial hardship & compassionate release of my superannuation at the same time?

i cant afford to pay my bills & legal fees let alone eat & establish a new home but I am unable to work until I have dental implants attended which I can’t afford again.

Hoping it is permitted as it would help establish a new life…

Hi @KBSHRIMPTON,

I'm sorry to hear this, it sounds like you've been through a really tough time. I hope things get better and you can get the support you need.

From the sounds of your situation, our personal crisis support page could be helpful. It has our contact number, plus links to other community support options.

Access to your super due to financial hardship is assessed by your super fund - so you'll need to contact them. They may ask for evidence to support your request.

In terms of accessing your super on compassionate grounds, dental treatment is an eligible expense. You need to meet certain conditions, have supporting medical reports and a quote for the treatment. In simple words, the treatment must be medically required. The linked page has more detailed info and also links to instructions about how to apply.
