I still have the small business attached to my ATO account but closed it back in 2017. Now unemployed and over 60, and they want documents from the business which i never had. It was a very very small enterprise and I never did more than $500.00 in profit during the entire time of operating.

I can't speak for why you've been asked for documents back from 2017, but if you no longer have the documents, you could try writing into us and explain the situation.
Another option is speaking with the area within the ATO asking for the documents and asking what next step can be taken to resolve the matter.
