hello, I lodged my tax return months ago and when I checked it after around a month it had said it was issued. I hadn't received anything yet so I continued to wait. when I checked later it had said my return had been cancelled, after calling a few times with no answer I attempted to amend the return, thinking that was going to fix the cancellation issue. it had now been processing the amendment for around 3 weeks and still no update. I called again and I finally got an answer saying the return had been paid to me weeks ago. I have not received any of the money from my return and calling still barely gets a response. I was hoping to ask here if anyone knows what I need to do next or if I am missing something. Thank you.

Hi @hayley,
There are a few steps you can take.
First, it’s important to confirm where the refund was sent. You can check the bank account details listed on your original tax return through your myGov account. If the account details were incorrect or closed, the refund may have bounced back.
If the refund was paid but you didn’t receive it, you can request a trace of the refund. This is something we can do to confirm where the money went and whether it was received. You’ll need to call us ask for a refund trace. If you’ve already done this and haven’t heard back, it’s worth following up again.
Also, if you lodged an amendment while the original return was still being processed or under review, it can delay things further. Amendments can take up to 50 business days to process, especially if we need to manually review them.
