Good day community.
I am going to start a new job soon that requires me to work 100% fulltime from home. So I guess I have to equip myself with enough knowledge from the tax deduction for wfh cases.
I have dived through many websites including Ato's and many personal accounting websites. Here are the few that unclear to me:
How can I genuinely show that I purchase and use an item solely for work but not personal purposes. Is there any type of proofs do I need to document and if so what will it be?
How can I claim the tax deduction amount of this following case:
I am planning to spend 150 on a desk, 50 on a chair to form a working space at home. I will not put it in my room to mix with my gaming area but rather another corner in the living room. Is it enough to show that I use that space for work only? How can I prove it? (Photos, Videos?)
I also read that if any items that can made an immediate deduction but are identical to each other, It will form a set and hence will be considered as depreciating assets? In this case, if it's true, can I still buy 2 monitors, same brand, same screen size, same details and use them for work? Should I buy from 2 different brand instead? And how can I show I can use solely for work? I know if I had a pc for work, I could show the up time of it matching with my time sheets but there is no such data for monitors. Same thing with monitor arms, keyboards, mouses.
Rather than that, deduction in terms of bills is pretty clear to me. I just need to show the receipts, my contributions, and time sheets of using them. But what if I move houses once a year, and it is in the middle of my work. like 1-2 months of working at one place and the rest of the year at the other place?
How strict is the diary as proof? Does the tax deduction still count for the hours I take my leaves at work? Annual, Personal,etc..
Thank you in advance.
