Hello!

I'm an American that just started their working holiday in Australia. I entered Australia on October 30 (1 day before the tax deadline). This may be an incredibly stupid question, but I'm wondering just now if I needed to submit a non-lodgement advice for this year. I have no assets in Australia or any real connection to this country (first time I've visited). I don't have a TFN yet.

This year doesn't finish until 30 June 2026. No one knows whether you will need to lodge a tax return or not. ATO has no record of you if you don't have a TFN.

If you are referring to last year (finished 30 June 2025) then the answer would be no. (unless you received Australian sourced income)
