I have not been able to find the answer to this questions.

I am required to travel for work and have recently been diagnosed with sleep apnoea. Given that travel is a requirement of my role, can I claim a travel sleep apnoea machine as a deduction? There is a direct link between the equipment and my work requirements.

Thanks

"There is a direct link between the equipment and my work requirements."

You will need to explain how this is so. This expense is not a travel expense. Expenses for a medical condition are usually a private expense and are not directly related to earning income.

From ATO on equipment expenses

"To claim a deduction for tools and equipment expenses you must:

  • use the items to perform your work duties"
