I previously had a TFN back in 2014. Ive recently moved back to australia and have gotten a job but dont know my TFN anymore. I have tried to get it mailed to me using the online form, waited 28 days and still dont have any mail. Ive tried calling the help number 13 28 61 several dozen times over the last 2 months, I go through the prompts, it says wait to speak to a person, then it says everyone is busy and hangs up. Ive tried dozens and dozens of times with the same thing happening. I cant make an ATO account to find out because I dont know my TFN. How in the world can i find this out if the mailing system doesnt work and the calling system doesnt work?

The fastest way to get your TFN now is to contact us directly on the individual services line.


We understand you've been experiencing difficulties getting through on the phone line. Call volumes can be high, which may result in longer wait times or disconnections. We recommend trying to call at different times of the day, particularly early morning or later in the afternoon, as these periods are often less busy.


When you do get through, we'll be able to confirm your identity and provide your TFN during that call if we can verify your details. You'll need to have identification information ready, such as your passport, birth certificate, or other documents that can help us confirm your identity.
