Hi @Trying2Home,
For the logbook method, your trip purpose needs to be sufficiently descriptive to show it's a business journey, but you don't need to record the exact address or location for every trip. Recording 'client/work site visit' is generally sufficient for a trades business, as long as it's clear the journey was for work purposes.
Your logbook must record specific details for each journey. For each journey, you need to record the:
- reason for the journey (such as a description of the business reason or whether it was for private use)
- start and end date of the journey
- odometer readings at the start and end of the journey
- kilometres travelled.
The key requirement is that the reason is descriptive enough to characterise the journey as business-related. For a trades business where you're regularly visiting client sites or work locations, noting 'client visit' or 'work site visit' meets this requirement. You're not required to list specific street addresses unless the description would otherwise be unclear.
