Hi there,

I need to make a $2,500 ex gratia payment to a terminated employee and wasn't sure which ETP type it should be.

The terminated employee lodged a dispute involving unfair dismissal which was denied by the employer. It has however been resolved in mediation by sum of a $2,500 ex gratia payment. I wasn't sure whether this is a type "R" ETP for compensation for unfair dismissal or whether it falls under the "O" ETP category.

Thanks

Hi @nicdingo,

The ex-gratia payment is reported as type ''O''. It isn't treated as an unfair dismissal payment. It's considered a payment similar to a golden handshake or gratuity payment.

Take care and stay safe.
