We are looking at building new premises and fitting out etc the total cost will be approx $450,000. When we recieve an invoice for goods or services provided to us in relation to the expenditure do we pay the invoice including GST or do we advise the supplier that we are NFP, Charity and DGR approved and recieve an invoice without GST? Or do we register for GST and claim the GST back?

Thanks

Hello @MykelG

Not-for-profit organisations are not exempt from paying GST in this scenario, but you can claim a GST credit if the organisation is registered for GST.

You can find more information below:

    • GST registration

    • Claiming GST credits

    • GST concessions

    Have a wonderful day :)

    Tony
