Hi

My wife is currently unemployed. She wants to study further to increase her employability. She wants to get HECS-Help loan to complete her degree.

Apologies but I have few questions:

- Would her HECS-Help loan repayments get deducted from my income ( salary) now?

-In future, if she continues to be unemployed or earns less than the repayment threshold during her life, will my income be used by the ATO to pay off her student debt. This is an extremely unlikely situation, but I want to be clear on the impact it has on our income as we are already struggling to pay off our mortgage?

Thanks so much.
