Hi @Fred23487

Thankyou for your patience while we looked into this.

The Link your business function in RAM is currently unavailable due to system maintenance, this is preventing you from linking your business.

Existing business links and authorisations are not impacted.

Principal authorities and authorisation administrators can continue to authorise others to act on behalf of the business.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

If your request to link your business is not urgent, we recommend waiting for the function to be back up again.

Updates are provided in RAM's system maintenance page and we will also update this thread.

For alternative How to lodge your BAS.

Hi @Fred23487,

Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) is currently undergoing system maintenance, impacting the Link your business function.

Thanks for your patience while this is happening! Existing business links and authorisations are not impacted, and principal authorities and authorisation administrators can continue to authorise others to act on behalf of the business.

If your BAS is due soon and you're unable to link your business in RAM:- Contact your principal authority or authorisation administrator so they can authorise you- If you're a sole trader you can access ATO online via myGov.- Find out alternative ways to lodge your BAS.

If you don't need to link your business urgently, please hold tight as it will be back up and running on 15 March.

For urgent assistance to link your business, phone the number next to MyGovID on our contact us page (select option 3).

You'll need to provide personal details to complete a proof of identity check.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will update you once the function is available again.

I have clients who have been unable to add me to their files for three months. Multiple clients.

Can the ATO please let the community know what is being done to fix the problem? And, what can be done so that BAS Agents can be enabled to act of thier cleints behalf?

Hi I am having the same problem. New to RAM and need to link our business. BAS due so need to sort. Is there really still scheduled outages that seem to have lasted over a week?

Hi @Kerri2,

Unfortunately self-service is still not available. The current process to link your business is to call the number next to Relationship Authorisation Manager on our contact us page, and press 3. A team will be able to link you up manually over the phone.

Apologies if this is inconvenient.

This is still an issue in mid June, except this solution of calling the provided number is no longer possible as the number leads to literally no where (a message saying due to covid I need to go to the ato website and search 'phone us', which doesn't bring anything up but the 'contact us' page which tells you to call them, viscious cycle!)... Trying to link my new mygovID account to my ABN, but of coarse the 'link your business' feature is 'currently unavailable' so I should check current outages or maintanence, of which the site says there is none.

Really really confused as this is a crazy cycle.

How do I link the ABN to mygovID please?

This message has been coming up for at least 6 weeks now. Is going to be a problem for lodging quarterly GST and PAYG returns. I wonder how long it will take to complete the maintenance - 6 weeks seems a bit too long.

A client has advised they tried linking a month ago and they received the linking error.

They tried again last night and still received the same error. I will be advising them to call the RAM hotline however could someone please advise when this will be fixed as I am sure our office will now be inundated with calls asking us how to fix the issue.

"Link your business - currently unavailable.

The Link between your business function is currently unavailable - try again later.

Note: other RAM functions are still available."

Hi @NicoleCore,

Unfortunately the self-service function for linking still isn't available.

The process in the meantime is to call through to the number next to Relationship Authorisation Manager on our contact us page, and press 3, and a team will be able to link the client's ABN over the phone manually.

I am astonished by the level of incompetence on display here by our government. As a new business owner I am trying to register for GST as required by law and it has been a complete nightmare.

  1. First I spent TWO HOURS on the phone just trying to link my MyGOV account to my RAM account - it's another story I won't go into, but in short the linking process has a serious design flaw. The phone rep told me there's no way to register for GST over the phone and I have to go online.
  2. I followed the ATO instructions found here to access the Online Services https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/GST/Registering-for-GST/#Howtoregister
  3. Click 'Log into online services for business'
  4. Takes you to another page where I click the same button again... 'Log into online services for business'
  5. "No ABN Found"
  6. Click 'Link ABN'
  7. Click "Link Business"
  8. "The Link your business function is currently unavailable - try again later." - at this point most people just give up and try later.
  9. There's a link to 'BAM Dashboard' - the link is completely broken and takes you to a website that doesn't exist.
  10. There's another link to check system maintenance schedule... so click that.
  11. "There is currently no system maintenance scheduled"
  12. Then, underneath the system maintenance list, there's a paragraph that says "We've changed the way you link your business in RAM. Find out how to link your business as a Principal Authority."
  13. So I click the link that takes me here: https://info.authorisationmanager.gov.au/principal-authority
  14. Under THIS page there is a section at the bottom "How to link your business" and it's the FIRST TIME it gives you instruction to "phone 1300 287 539 and select option 3". This is at the bottom of a page I found through a link from the scheduled maintenance list.
  15. Call the phone number - automated voice prompt tells me I can do it via MyGOV. (NO I CAN'T!)
  16. Wait in queue 30 minutes - eventually the person who answered was very helpful and we completed the registration for GST.
  17. Try to log into the ATO website to check details are all ok "A933.22 - Unexpected system error"....

This is never ending....
