I have a Twitter page/telegram where I post my own personal trading ideas, which is not financial advice. Many people who follow my trading ideas and make a profit send me donations to my Wallet as a thank you of sorts.

Does this fall under gift? Also, what is the maximum amount I can declare as a gift as I have received a substantial amount over the last few months due to this?

Thanks anyone who answers

Hi @Jay19971997

I wouldn't consider it a gift. A gift is generally something like a family member giving you money. There's no limit to the sizes of gifts and you don't declare them anywhere.

What you might want to consider is if this activity is a business or a hobby. Payments that you receive related to your hobbies are not taxable. Whether you are carrying on a business or pursuing a hobby is something you need to determine for yourself at this point, taking into account things such as your intention to make a profit.

Here is a good guide on the difference between a business and a hobby.

I hope this has helped.
